Yet, out of this story I have two suggestions for Dominik: 1. So a clear case of the problem sitting in front of the keyboard. But that had the negative effect, that I would miss many updates.
KYPASS 127.0.0.1 UPDATE
So I must have set the proxy to localhost instead of disabling update check at startup, weird me.
KYPASS 127.0.0.1 INSTALL
Because if it were like in the latter case, I would just skip the prompt and close KeePass right away to install the new version. I got annoyed by update notifications that poppup up AFTER I have entered the master password during startup instead of appearing BEFORE prompting me for the password. I've also forgotten that KeePass has an option like this. I must have forgotten about it a long time ago, I've been using KeePass for many many years. Oh, I'm so sorry for bringing you on this wild goose chase. This is so weird and confusing, why does it use 127.0.0.1 as a gateway? It's something about KeePass that isn't right, and it can't be the firewall, I even disabled it completely for a test. NET applications I tried use these as well but they have no problem accessing resources from the internet. NET 4.8 integrated in Windows 10, KeePass and other. NET Framework 4.8, the last and final pre-Core version, that is still shipped with Windows 10/11 and can't be uninstalled. ? Nevermind, CLR version 4 is the correct version for. Thanks for your kind replies, they all helped point to the right direction.ĮDIT: Yeah, according to Process Explorer, KeePass uses the pre-Core CLR version 4.0.3 on my system. NET installs/environments is rather basic. NET runtimes somehow? I'll have to investigate that, but my knowledge of managing and identifying errors in.
KYPASS 127.0.0.1 SOFTWARE
Maybe KeePass uses a deprecated or broken version? Or me or some software I have once installed has disabled or misconfigured network access for. NET Core even), which I've read somewhere isn't a good thing. Alright, as this points to an issue with my. Also I'm sure I had that issue before I installed the VPN client.) (Btw, the VPN is not running and I didn't enable split tunneling for KeePass or anything.

Maybe then I can find an app that uses the same library/API call as KeePass and nail it further down. Now the question is, how does KeePass determine in detail which interface to use? I'd need to know that in order to further investigate this issue on my side because I don't get it, how it's different from all the other apps. But I do know that some applications let the user choose which network interface to use, qBitTorrent for example. I don't have that issue with any other application. I think KeePass can't determine correctly which one of them routes to the real internet. Also a second hardware network controller card with two interfaces. I have a lot of network interfaces on my machine to choose from: Hyper-V, VirtualBox and a commercial VPN client. As I expected earlier there's something off with the network interfaces KeePass chooses from. Oh, that was a helpful test as this gives me an actual error message unlike the "Check for Updates".
